*****************UPDATE*****************
This no longer works. Bliz removed Starfire Espresso from the achievement.
*****************************************
Step 1: read this post http://fallingleavesandwings.wordpress.com/2010/12/13/the-quick-and-dirty-fish-feast-method/
Step 2: Realize that you bought the Starfire Espresso recipe before Cataclysm was active, planning to skill up a few easy points using vendor mats
Step 3: Realize that your guild is only a quarter of the way to the achievement…. and you could just log on and brew a few…
Step 4: Buy the water and the cocoa beans. Curse whoever set it up to sell the water in 5s and the beans as singles. Empty all your gear out of your bags so you can queue up a thousand at a time. Start brewing. Walk away and do something useful
Step 5: send them all to your bank alt (You’ve got one, right?). Rinse, repeat, get the achievement
Step 6: Sell a few on the Auction House. Realize they actually sold. List a bunch more. Sell ’em. Realize you’ve already made back your investment, keep listing until they’re gone.
Not to be held liable if they sell for less than material cost on your server. Check before you brew!
It’ll take a while. Takes about 20 seconds per batch, and I doubt you can hold enough mats for more than a thousand at once, so you’ll need to do this a couple times. But hey, it’s nice and easy and if you do it now – while there’s a market for the product – you can get it without it costing you money.
That’s how you got that achievement!! I was so confused, but figured you knew something I didn’t! More guild achievements tonight!! Yay!
I sent Expresso to pretty much every mana user in the guild 😛 And they’re still going on about the awesome food in some cases.
Bwahaha
I should have sent it to the guild but when you’re trying to remove a thousand at a time from your bags it’s easier just to send them to the bank alt…
I thought about writing something like, give me Espresso or I’ll /gkick you!! But I figured that threat would only leave me with like 2000 espresso in my mail box, so I’m just gonna be quiet.
Sure, I’ll send ’em all to your hunter.
@Troutwart
I’m imagining my guildies doing that… because my GM totally would’ve… And while I would have sent them all to him… he’d have tossed it all into the bank in the most annoying way [I’m guild treasurer].
Perfect timing! We just got our feast using this method, but I hadn’t thought to check the AH… I left a message on the guild site and I hope our two cooks are selling the things now 😀
Totally started doing it last night after a dungeon. Sent a dozen to each mana user on last night. Total cost FYI is about 25s per, so somewhere around 1.2K total.
Cheap guild brownie points!
Hope nobody figures out what I’m doing til I’m done!
Has been hotfixed and no longer works
😦
Yeah, but WE got it, and unless they have some clever way to see which of the recipes were Espresso, we should still have it.
Yeah, but i didn’t get it. I stopped for the night at 4000, and the next day, it was gone from the game .(
At least you should be within 1000 of the achive. that will come a lot faster.
A blog mentioned blizzard having a no fun team (can’t recall who.) I am pretty sure that this is correct. I don’t really see the point in them hotfixing this. If someone wants to spend 1k gold on some food to get a decent food buff then more power to them. How is taking this so called “exploit” from the achievement helping the morale of the player base?
They also hotfixed the bats in deepholm to not drop skins.
Hint to blizzard if any devs read your blog: Professions are a tedious grind and they are easily one of the most annoying factors of the game. Not to mention the craftable gear tends to be extremely trivial. (Especially in cata. Yay all pvp gear!!!!! /sarcasm) There is no need to make this “grind” even more horrible. Or is this just a way to get us to spend hours farming so we keep paying our 15 dollars a month? (Oh, hello achievement system.) If you consider that “content” you need to go back to the drawing board.
I really enjoy playing this game, but I don’t want to go home to a second job to achieve max levels in my professions.
I agree that I don’t see the need for them to do this – it didn’t completely trivialize the achievement, after all, it took time and gold to make all those. But…. I have other things to fume about, like how slow cloth drops and how far behind my tailoring is, or these jewelcrafting dailies that take multiple gems per, or….
Exactly. It already takes too much time to do this stuff.
If it ain’t broke don’t hotfix it.
