This one requires a little explanation.
Saturday I was working on the Legendary staff questline in the Nexus. I’ve finally got it figured out enough to get through the gauntlet but the dragon…. ugh.
So after the first time I engaged the boss I zoned back in and found a portal that took me back to where you fight the dragon (it’s where you kill Anomalous, the Void Boss, in Nexus). Cool! I don’t have to do the gauntlet every time! I knew that the gauntlet part respawns eventually so I had incentive to try hard. Well… I did. My best attempt I got him below 30%. Ugh.
Anyway after a wipe I came back and the portal wasn’t there – and neither was the friendly dragon, or any other part of the gauntlet. Well, I’ll run back. The empty Nexus seemed vaguely spooky. I got to the place where usually you fight across bridges over the chasm. In this version of the Nexus, there’s these floating platform disks you hop from one to another of. You kill a dragon on a big disk, hop onto that disk, then two little dragons appear on little disks, you kill them, hop on a little disk, fly to the next big disk. It’s pretty straightforward. The key thing is you have no control over the disks, they just appear.
Well, the disks were all empty. I hopped onto the first big disk – and the little dragons appear, realize they aren’t supposed to be there, and fall all the way to the bottom and despawn. Now I’m stuck. I finally decide to try to use the “leave vehicle” button and click on the next platform as I’m falling. This actually works for the first platform, but then the platforms beyond my new perch are too far away and I fall. Oh well, I think as I slowly drift downward. I’ll die and maybe the portal will be back.
Except I don’t die. I land in… well, let me show you.
A glowing blue realm. Absolutely featureless, like a prison of ice. Above I could see the place I’d fallen from. On the floor, there was one of the little platforms, and it was clickable.
It levitated! I moved slowly around the room as it took me for a ride.
I got close to the bottom of the platforms. This view was really, really cool.
And then it took me past the big platforms. I could jump onto the very closest one to the door where you start – so I did. And then there I was stuck at the beginning of the chasm.
I tried a couple times to get across but ended up having to hearth out and try again later.
Coming soon: A Resto Druid guide to getting this gosh-darned staff quest done. Maybe. Or a Resto Druid’s Guide to Getting Through the Darn Gaunlet, Already. That part I can write.
Awesome pics! And, I agree, that whole quest is a pain in the butt. I finally had the hubby do it for me before I broke something. 😛
Hah! That’s always an option but I’m too stubborn to give up. I have two weeks to get it done since we’re missing raid this weekend. I think I can get there! How are you doing on the next stage? Falahla is two weeks or so from being done there…
I fell into that cavern when I did that part. But, when I went back up, the mobs respawned so I was able to continue on. Sorry you’re having so much trouble getting through it!!
And assuming we do a full clear this coming weekend, I should be done with this stage of the quest line.
Wow, that will be awesome! Ok, I have motivation to get that quest chain done, otherwise we’ll be wasting boss kills!
I think the problem was that I came through while the gauntlet was “cleared” so things didn’t respawn? I’m not sure. That part was fun and easy for me when I was clearing it. If I got past the first three fights, I got through the gauntlet.
The boss fight will just be a matter of trying and trying and trying. I just can’t seem to handle the adds and get any dps on the boss.
Cool screenshots.
The boss was what we were having the most trouble with. Being a warlock, I went affliction to have a bit of self-healing, but the interupt was what was giving the most problems, and the boss kept healing himself. Ugh! Soooooo glad it’s over now. I went in this past weekend and did the 1st 4 bosses to open up the extra boss for the staff, and then did the last 3 bosses to start on the next part…collecting all 1,000 of the cinders. LOL! Feels like it’ll take forever 😛
Good luck to you! 🙂 And, way to go on your progress, Falahla!
I found this place too! When the final boss starts casting his breath on you and you’re meant to jump to another platform, I sort of didn’t and fell down there with him. Went through all the platforms from the start. The big platforms were empty, the smalls ones only had one add spawn instead of two. Fun times 🙂
It’s been timely finding your blog, I’m a resto druid in the same situation.
Did you get yours done? I finally did, on Monday, and promptly blogged about the whole experience. Heh.
