So Friday I stood in line for an iPad. That wasn’t the original plan, I was just going to order one, but when I realized it wouldn’t arrive in time for my upcoming trip, I sprang into ation. Reversion and I coordinated our attack plans and desired stats and used our phones to communicate. I tried the Best Buy in the next town per but was turned back by the overwhelming line without even parking my car. Instead Nomster and I got to Walmart. Reversion meanwhile was in line at Walmart in our own town. Long story short, success! I have a lovely iPad in black, even, and a fancy cover on the way.
Well of course Friday night is raid night and I set up my new iPad right next to my computer. Let’s see… I can check email while inviting people to raid. Cool. Or read blogs without alt tabbing out. Or wow insider, or… You get the point. But I could also pull up encounter guides, videos, or even just look up spells, without needing to look away from WoW. Hmm I could like this…
Saturday I need to check my invitees for the raid…. iPad has the armory app on it already, pull it up, check the calendar. There we go!
Sunday afternoon I get on and do a little archeology. Why look! I can surf the web, play Angry Birds, lots of different ways to kill time while flying between dig sites. This is cool!
And now? What do you think I wrote this post on? Takes time to get used to the keypad but it’s not much slower than the normal way.
Yes, this pad is going to fit my lifestyle just fine….
I do that with my work laptop.
A few years ago I had issues with Vent crashing the Wow client under Win 7 64bit, so I started using Vent on the work laptop and it evolved into the second machine on the desk.
A bonus to that is you don’t use up precious memory having a browser open, and it’s a good preventative measure against in-browser keyloggers!
Yup. Love having an actual second computer. I have been using a two machine gaming setup for almost 10 years. It is just so handy to have the ‘offside’ computer to keep up maps, info sites, boss guides, chat programs, itunes, whatever.
Actually Analogue has two machines on her desk also but she leaves her offside off most of the time.
My current setup has a latptop and two desktops with three monitors and three keyboards. I had to get a foot pedal button for Vent so I dont have to remove my hand from my hot buttons to hit my push-to-talk.
Footpedal for vent?? Hmm where does one find such awesome item!
Think geek . Com!
And reportedly, you can play wow on it 🙂
I believe Steelseries made a footpedal that interfaces with vent…
However, grats on the second screen! Once you get used to it.. You’ll never go back. I currently use 3 screens. (2 on my pc, and my laptop).
1 Screen for Wow, 1 for Vent/Itunes.. and #3 for various other surfing/socializing. (and my vent radio program). I dont think i could ever go back to anything else. Once you get spoiled.. its hard going back. Even sitting on my work pc with only one screen gets on my nerves now.. lol
