So this morning I read that Blizzard won’t be giving us any new raid content in 4.1, and I breathe a sigh of relief. Not that I don’t want to have new raid content! It’s just that we’re hardly ready to be done with this content. Our raid group is at 6/12 bosses killed right now, having put in attempts on one other boss. That’s five encounters we haven’t even seen yet – we need to focus on what we have, not what’s coming.
More advanced raiders may complain that they’re already bored. Less advanced raiders, the sort who never got past Saurfang in ICC, may want new content to drop so they have a new set of three bosses to farm. But middle of the road groups like ours? This is perfect. The 5 mans in 4.1 will give us a chance to gear alts or new raiders more easily, fill in those annoying missing slots (wands, please, Blizzard. Maybe some trinkets too).
Now, if 4.2 doesn’t drop til, say, November, we may have to bring this up again. But right now I’m looking at a good chance to not just kill everything in this content tier, but also to start working on heroic modes, and that sounds like good news to me.
Also: Efflorescence as a smart, three-lowest-person, heal? Yes please!
I must admit I’m happy that there’s no raid instance yet for my guild’s sake as well. We’ve only just been able to start raiding properly the last 1,5 weeks or so (it feels like) so we’re on about the same amount of bosses you are.
I really want to have some more time now that we actually seem to be raiding regularly. I’d hate for new raids to come out before I’ve at least killed the majority of the current content.
The 5 mans and the raids at a later date feel right to me. As you say maybe people at higher-end guilds are bored, but from what I’m reading most guilds aren’t completely done yet either, so waiting a little longer shouldn’t be too bad.
Especially since we don’t know the timeline on any of this. If 4.1 drops in April, with new raid content that’s a big problem. Without new raid content, it’s a nice buff for us and a fun new set of instances.
I’m a bit surprised by that, but not unhappy about it. Like you said, we’ve only killed half of the stuff so far. Also … obviously I enjoy raiding or I wouldn’t be doing it at all, but it’s also not the only thing in the game that I want to do. No new raids in 4.1 means I can concentrate on the raids that are already there and spend my spare time working on alts and achievements.
Agreed
Agreed!
We’re only 3/12 right now as we started pretty late (our last raid was our 4th of the new expansion) so I’m delighted that there’ll be a little more time before there’s a new raid/new tier.
No new raids hmmmm. I like it and dislike it. I like it cause it can give us a chance to catch up! 🙂 But also makes me wonder how much longer will we have to wait for new raids? Hopefully not too long. 🙂
Also I agree: eff as a smart heal, yes please indeed!
Agreed! I want to actually finish this tier. I’m excited to gear my alts up in pretty Tier 11 with justice points BUT I would rather gear my main up from hard work, not handouts.
I’m digging the no new raids since I’m hoping to be able to start raiding (damn real life) by the third raid tier, with the little breaks like this maybe I’ll be able to catch the end of tier 2!
Also the new efflo is awesome! It shares the same haste breakpoints with wildgrowth too, so if you don’t have 2005 haste its time to get that warlock to love you enough to give you Dark Intent (more info on that on my blog).
