This was awesome. Fun, and it made me completely un-nervous about my first time tanking Siege. I went in with 387 gear and 2/5 healers in Teamspeak so I had instant comms with them as well as the off-tank. No wipes, no stress, no nothing. Cakewalk. Coordination like that makes everything easy but Thanks so much! for writing a guide that made me feel more relaxed about it. XD

this is actually a great guide, no crap abreviations that you have to google every other line.
what sort of Ilvl do you recommend for tanking this, i walked in as a DK with ilvl 388 and got kicked.

Really John? Have you actually tanked it? Because it is pretty much this easy. The second half of DS will need a bit more explaining but the first half is easier than tanking a heroic (in lvl appropriate gear). The point of this guide is to give the short short version. Some people don’t want to know tall the names of every darn ability the boss has. An LFR tank does not need to know any of that to get the boss down and get some loot. As I mentioned above, more could be said about taunt swaps but it is not critical and since you don’t have control over the other tanks strategy you don’t have any control over taunt swaps anyway. Rather than arguing with people in /raid to follow some plan your better off just getting good with your cooldown use. Or, as I said before, let the other tank have the boss, watch for a debuff or for DBM to whine and taunt.

It really is this easy. If you have not done it you really should go try it.

Well you don’t actually get to chose in LFR. This guide is for a solo tank queing for LFR. So all you really can do is not taunt back IF the other guy takes him off you. Otherwise pop cooldowns and pray. Alternatly throttle your DPS/threat so that the other tank always pulls off you at the start of each cycle. Then about half way through the cycle taunt the boss off of him. Of course if you are as good as all that then you can probably pull off keeping your self up even with so-so heals. Remember, dont pop cooldowns early and don’t pop too many at once. The healers need to SEE your health dipping and ramp up their heals. If you pop to early when the cooldown wears off you will catch the healers with their pants down (you will have high stacks and they will not realize it) and drop fast.

If you have very good tanks and heals, it can be ignored, but I’ve had a lot of groups wipe because some fool thought he could single tank it when he couldn’t. And there’s no significant downside to two-tanking in LFR, so I’m a strong advocate of it.

er.. there is a dot? Oh yeah. I guess there is. We never did anything but solo tank it. Sometimes I pop a cooldown if DBM is whining.

As a healer, I’m not sure it’s wise to leave out the stacking DoT on Yor’sahj/slime dude. Sure, a good tank can usually solo tank it and survive, but it makes life unnecessarily hard on the healers. It’s better for the tanks to taunt off each other at three or four stacks.
