Rev’s got a business trip coming up. I’m planning to keep our raid going but during the 10-ish days he’s gone, I’m not totally sure what I’m going to do.
Firelands is going to drop so I could do rep grinds on my main and my mage. I’m letting everyone else ignore the new dailies for now.
I could work hard on my baby shaman. She’s 68 now! Hurrah! No more freaking Outlands!
I could go level horde. Problem is I don’t know what to level. I think about the character creation screen and freeze up.
But I know me and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get super anti social while he’s out of town. So there’s part of me…. a big part… that’s thinking fondly of the few hours I’ve spent in the Shire. Wandering the woods, the fields… wondering if Bilbo might be at home in Bag End… and LOTRO is free to play…
Or, I could just read books. I wonder if Reversion would be mad if I spent all our money at the bookstore again?
Your Shaman is 68?!?! That’s the same level as my DK…. I feel dungeon runs coming on! That’s way better than being anti-social : )
Yay!
I’ve already got my mage to 65. I think dungeon runs sound like a good idea!
mmmm books….
On that note..i might have to hit up Half price books again soon,.
Hyperion, and the Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons
The Doomsday Nook by Connie Willis
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart
Sailing to Sarantium, and Lords and Emperors by Guy Gavriel Kay
Grass by Sherri Tepper
Perfume by Patrick Suskind
Seventh Son by Orson Scott Card
All somewhat old books I highly recommend.
Hmm, I’ve read about half that list and most of ’em are darn good (Connie Willis is the best author, like, ever). Might have to check out the ones I haven’t heard of.
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher is fantastic. There are 12 books out and the full story is expected to be some where between 22 and 25 books.
I read book one a few years back and it wasn’t quite my thing at the time, but possibly if I sat down and read a stack of ’em at once I’d enjoy it.
I do have a pair of John Ringo books (volume 2 and 3 of the “Troy Rising” series) that will be good if they come after Rev leaves so he can’t steal them.
And I’m working on Portal 2. Not sure how long that will last me.
I’ve read the Ringo books and if you like them there is a series he co-authored with David Weber that is very good. Book as are March Upcountry, March to the Sea, March to the Stars, and We Few.
Infact if you like Sci-Fi books check out http://www.baen.com Its a sci-fi fanatasy publisher ahead of the times. They have a free library of e-books to DL in multiple formats. They also provide about the 1st 1/4 of a book online so you can get an idea if you want to buy. They also own http://www.webscriptions.net where you can buy ebooks from thier catalog for about $6. You can also buy an entire month’s release of books, about 2-3 new and 2-3 paperback reprints, for $15 a month, you can also purschase advance reader copies of books about 2 to 3 months before publication for $15 a book, these are limited to expected good sellers.
To top it all off each of thier main “stable” authors’ newest hardcover releases come with CDs that contain the author’s complete work at Baen. These CDs are free online at http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com. The guy who runs it literally knows the publisher and the CDs are free to distribute, and are designed to get the books a wider readership. You should let Rev know as well as its nice to have a small library to view online while away from home.
